Hello There, Strangers

Summer is good.

You are less likely to find me on my computer when the sun is shining and the lake or park or backyard is calling.

Am I the only one who feels this way? Thus, the long lapse of blogosphere contributions. Despite my absence, Stacy and I have been hard at work making and selling Posh Toppings! What great events we had in June! We posted photos of the Backyard Boutique on Facebook, and today I posted photos from the Latah Variety Market! So fun! I've added some of them here, but be sure to check out our Facebook Fan Page for lots more!

And now for the pinnacle of the summer, and our biggest event yet, by far! The Art on the Green festival this weekend in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho! Most local people know it as Art on the Green, but it is actually three very large events, all linked together on the same weekend, creating a huge arts, crafts, food and fun event! We will be part of the Taste of the Coeur d'Alenes event, which is in the beautiful City Park beginning this Friday, July 31st. Hours are Fri & Sat 10-8:30 and Sun 10-6. If you are in the area, be sure to come by and see the enormous selection of new items we have been creating all summer for this three day sale. You won't regret it!

We will have some of our most popular pieces available, as well as loads and loads of new Posh Blossom designs. We will also be showing off our brand new Posh Vintage line! These special, one-of-a-kind pieces feature repurposed vintage centers, and are just gorgeous! Come early for these, as our selection of authentic vintage pieces is limited, and they will probably not last long!

In addition to our flower clips, we will share a whole new selection of headband and hat styles and colors to display your lovely Posh Blossoms on. As always, you will find plenty of items for babies to ladies! We'll look forward to seeing you!

Note to out of towners: We don't mean to leave you out, if you are too far away to enjoy our local events. Always feel free to peruse the pictures from these events and let us know if you'd like us to recreate any of the looks you may see in photos but not in our online store! We welcome custom orders. Just email us!

One more thing: Lovin' the adorable handmade clothing my little ones are sporting in the first two photos? Me too! I discovered a gal who does fabulous work at affordable prices! Check her out at 1crown3tiaras. I think you'll be seeing a lot more of her precious things in my photos. I just can't help myself!

We're Busy Bees!

Yep, it may have been quiet on the blog front during May, but that's because we have been so swamped! In May, we participated in two shows. The first was a Private Party at Spokane's prestigous Fourteenth And Grand Salon, where we primarily showcased all of our wonderfully chic and trendy womens' designs. They were well received! In fact, if you happen to step into this fabulous salon, you will probably spy some of our pretty pieces adorning many of the gals who work there!

Next was the very large Garden Expo, with an estimated 12,000-16,000 in attendance. This was a fun event, and after a questionable weather week, we fortunately enjoyed beautiful sunshine for our first big outdoor show.

Welcome to all of our new readers/followers/fans who have joined us here after these wonderful events! It was great fun to meet all of you!

And if you are local, and missed these events, don't be sad! We have more coming up! You can come out and visit us at the quickly approaching "Latah Creek Variety Market" on June 20 and 21. This sounds like it is going to be such a fun, family event! There is a big pancake feed both mornings, children's activities, singing and dancing entertainment, and loads of vendors ranging from local farmers, to a variety of arts, crafts, antiques and food vendors. What a great way to spend a portion of Father's Day weekend! Here is a quote from their promotions:

"Our 85 wonderful vendors will display and market their vintage and handmade goods, sweets, plants, wares, jewelry.... so much more... Even carnival rides and fun for the little ones... Getting to the Variety Market is very easy. Minutes from Downtown Spokane: I-90- to exit 279b (the pullman exit) South onto Highway 195,traveling approximately 2.5 miles to the intersection of Cheney-Spokane Road on the right. 4237 south Cheney-Spokane road. The Market is located in the Trading Company Plaza. Spokane, Washington 509-624-4182"

And finally, we will post more info later regarding our participation at Coeur d'Alene's Art on the Green/Taste of Coeur d'Alene/Street Fair weekend, July 31-Aug 2. We are getting so excited about being in this festival of all festivals!

As always, we will have a ton of selection and items not pictured on our website available at these events. AND as always, if our online shoppers don't see what you are looking for in our store, please ask! We may have something already made up that is just perfect for you. And of course, we always LOVE doing custom orders as well!

Funky Junk Report

Well, our first show was a big success! The small antique and craft market with loads of character was the perfect way to get our feet wet. And the response was highly positive! We were honored by the enthusiasm showered upon our toppings - expressed both in “oohs and ahs,” as well as purchases! We only hope we will be able to handle the volume of a larger show, and are working on solutions for that very nice problem. On a side note, we sold easily as many of our “Momma Toppings” as we did our children’s items. More on THAT later! Here is a sampling of some cuties that were excited about being made “famous” on our blog. (The more “mature” customers were a little camera shy!)

Made to Match Designs

I love to customize my hats and headbands to my daughters' outfits! I'm a big fan of Gymboree clothing, so many of my designs are made to match their lines. If you'd like to match a line not pictured, I would be happy to do so! Chances are, I'll have easy matching access in their closets!

Check back soon for our made to match "the Mouse" styles!

Our Topping Models

Thanks for stopping by our new Posh Toppings blogspot! I have always been a fan of head decor! Having two "follicle-ly challenged" young daughters, we rarely leave the house with "naked heads," as we call them. I've always loved hats and headbands, but struggled to find the accessories that would set off their precious outfits and give them that special finishing touch. Gradually, I began making them myself, and have been so pleased with the results! My girls cause a commotion, everywhere we go, and I have had so many comments and inquiries about their hats and hair accessories. After much encouragement from friends and family, I finally decided (with the help of my sister) to start Posh Toppings! You will find lots of photos of my little models - my inspirations! They are the true masterpieces that I just love to embellish a little.

Topping Types and Sizing

Bebe Toppings – Infant size crochet beanies, soft and stretchy headbands, and mostly more petite flowers and adornments. These are SOO precious on little tiny baby heads. There’s just something about highlighting their delicateness with just the right hat or halo. These small beanies fit 0-6 months, sometimes larger, depending on head size. They are soft and stretchy. If your 6 month old has a larger-than-average head size, you will probably want to go with the Toddler size and roll the edge for an adorable look!

Toddler Toppings - Who can resist that adorable little Toddler face? Set it off spectacularly with the perfect hat or hair accessory! From delicate little flower headbands to “WoW factor” giant blooms, you’ll want one for every outfit. Mix and match your beanies, headbands, and flowers for unique looks every time you have the pleasure of dressing your little cutie. They are only little for such a short time (I am very quickly realizing!), so spoil them and yourselves while you still can! Soft and stretchy beanies fit most ages 6mos-12yrs. Hat sizes vary. Babies and smaller toddlers will either wear these covering all of their head and forehead, or for a different look, can wear them farther back on their head and baggy in back. They are also adorable rolled at the opening, similar to a cloche. Finally, larger hats can have ribbon added (if they don’t already have it) for a wonderfully cute look and adjustable fit!

Big Girl Toppings – Little girls don’t outgrow their cuteness just because they’re learning to dress themselves and become “big girls.” In fact, they’re probably coming into their own sense of style and will LOVE adorable accessories in sizes that fit they’re blossoming little heads. Most hats in this age group (up to roughly 12 and often older!) will also fit the toddlers. However, they fit older girls tighter, like a fitted beanie. Headbands can be worn with pony tails or with hair down for a very chic look. Treat your little lady to mix and match heaven with our adorable hair accessories. They will love the styles they can create and the attention they get too!

Momma Toppings – Who says “little” girls just wanna have fun? Show your sassy side, by sporting our flowers, headbands and even some of our hats (more to come in the future)! These flowers are popping up in all the fashion magazines and catalogs, often for ridiculous prices. Get them here, and customize them to your needs or even match your little one! Flowers can be removed from hats or headbands and attached to dresses, tanks, purses, pony tails and more! The possibilities are endless. We will be adding to our Momma Toppings listings at a later date. If you are interested in a little something for yourself, please email us and we'll let you know what is currently available. There’s no reason Momma can’t turn heads too!
